Food Hygiene Ratings

Assistance in achieving and maintaining your Five Star Hygiene rating for your business.

Food hygiene rating five stars

Otherwise known as the scores on the doors, the Food Hygiene Rating is a compulsory assessment of your business's hygienic status in relation to:

Food Handling: How you prepare, cook and store foods handled on site.
Cleanliness: The Hygienic state of the premises and hygienic practices carried out by staff.
Management: How you document your food safety records.

This assessment is usually carried out by your local authority (usually Environmetal Health Department), with scores grading from 0 to 5 with 0 being poor and 5 being very good. Failure to react to the findings of these assessments can result in the following:

Imposed with a legal notice to cease trading until your business does comply (not your opinion, but the opinion of the local authority).
Imposed with a fine which can be as much as much as £5,000 per offence.
In extreme cases a custodial offence imprisonment.

The benefits to your business of achieving a high score are obvious, Increased Customer Confidence, improved image for the whole of your business and increased sales. Low scores do the opposite.

We can assist and guide you in achieving the highest possible grade by developing a routine inspection programme to suit the needs of your business.
